[About this blog] Inspired by local soccer player Mike Lim during my rookie reporter days at Singapore Polytechnic, I set up this blog in August 2002. I feel that blogging is a novel platform to document interesting facets of my life and my thoughts on certain issues. [Email blogger] ephraim@singnet.com.sg

it's raining heavily here in serangoon..... just came back from church..... short session though....

message of the day: words can make or break a person... give encouragement or tear a person to pieces.... use upwords at all times because upwords build a person up....

a father was with his son, peter and his son's classmate, john... they had just gotten their chinese test results. john had got 55.... and peter's father told him to try harder and encouraged him..... when peter reached home, his father asked for his results... peter had got 75... his father was not pleased and asked him why he hadn't tried his best.....

this illustrates the power of words.... how we often give others encouragement but not to our own loved ones....

didn't go to west coast or sentosa today..... just gonna stay at home and slack till book in time.....

Come What May
Never knew I could feel like this
Like I've never seen the sky before
I want to vanish inside your kiss
Every day I love more and more
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sings
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I love you until the end of time

Chorus:
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste
But our world revolves around you
And there's no mountain too high
No river too wide
Sing out this song I'll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather
And stars may collide
But I love you until the end of time

Chorus

Oh, come what may, come what may
I will love you, I will love you
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place

came across this joke while checking my emails todae... really funny... you will know what i mean after reading it....

once upon a time in Singapore, there lived a happy couple, Mr & Mrs Ng with their 3 lovely daughters; Elaine, Ena & Ella. the 3 daughters were brought up in a prim-and-proper way and when they reached 20, they were still virgins. years passed, and it was time to get them married. so, the parents found them the most suitable handsome guys. they got married and were preparing to set-off on their honeymoon. as 'concerned' parents, Mr & Mrs Ng were curious about their daughters' first-night experience. so, before the daughters went on their respective honeymoons, Mrs Ng told them...."your father and I want to know about your 1st night encounters and whether you are satisfied. write a letter to us, but as not to raise your husbands' curiosity... you all must use a code-name to describe your experiences". so, the excited daughters were off. a week passed. Mr & Mrs Ng got the first letter. it was from Elaine. they opened the letter and found the word STANDARD CHARTERED. they immediately took the newspaper and looked for the Standard Chartered advertisement. "Ah! here it is!", exclaimed Mr Ng. the motto for Standard Chartered was...."BIG, STRONG & FRIENDLY" Mr & Mrs Ng were happy. a week later, they got another letter. this time it was from Ena. the content was simple. "NESCAFE". so, again they took the neswpaper and looked for the Nescafe ad. "Ah! here it is. 'NESCAFE: PLEASURE TILL THE LAST DROP". Mr & Mrs Ng jumped in joy. another week passed. a month passed. and another. there was still no letter from Ella. the Ngs became worried. finally, the letter came. it was scribbled and could hardly be read but Mrs Ng managed to figure it out. the code-name was "SINGAPORE AIRLINES". why Singapore Airlines? Mr Ng rushed to the nearest store and got a newspaper. he flipped the pages frantically. "Ah! Here it is!" Mrs Ng grabbed the page and read aloud. before she could finish ...THUMP!!!...she fell off her chair.

the motto was ... "7 TIMES A WEEK. 4 TO 6 TIMES A DAY. NON-STOP".

hahaha.... *cheers*

be back next weekend for more......

spent the whole morning sleeping.... really tiring man.... this makes me envy those who have passed the disruption test.... coz they can sleep late and dun have to book in tonight.... *sigh*

just returned from a long day.... had breakfast in clementi with my army friend kelvin then went to skool... reached home slightly before 3pm and changed and headed for orchard.... played pool at potblack and went to cuppage to meet a special someone till night..... really tired now man! hope i will be supercharged for tomorrow.... book in timing is 2100..... *sianz*

Disruption Test Week.... the aftermath....

finished the last week... here's a brief schedule...
Monday- ET Run
Tuesday- SOC and FD
Wednesday- Swim
Thursday- IPPT Disruption Test
Friday- SOC and CO Parade
Saturday- Route March

during the CO Parade, Ltc. Lim Meng Kiaw talked about choices and attitudes... he illustrated his point by telling the story of a builder and a businessman...

there was once a businessman who asked his faithful builder to build a house... it was the builder's last house and he was gonna retire after building it.. though given the best materials, he did not put in full effort and the house looked grand but the workmanship was shoddy.... after the house was completed, the businessman presented the key of the house to the builder... the builder thought to himself "Why didn't i do it well?"

Moral of the story: what you do today affects tomorrow.... It is your attitude and effort that determines how the final outcome turns out to be.... therefore, try your best in everything...

chew on it!

wow... this week our company got an early book out.... shiok man... so i get to have friday night free!! went to watch movie with my bunk mates and buddies todae.... the show was great... quite funny too but the special effects were very power though some moves by the actresses were quite exaggerated at times.... the movie was i watched was "so close".... really enjoyed it man coz the plot was superb too... hope got more early book outs in the future....

last sundae i just completed my article on the Singapore Children's Society Charity Walk cum Carnival... it's slated to appear in the October issue of fullStoP.... met glenn and rod from 98.7 and the CNA crew at the walk too.... also managed to get some snaps shots of BG Lee Hsien Loong at the event... still haven't figured out how to put fotos on my site yet... have yet to explore given my tight schedule.... anyway... hope everything is fine... meanwhile, just stay happy and funky...

here's another poem on National Day... enjoy...

National Day Poem Reprised
What a long 37 years it has been
The fruits of our labour we've finally seen
From village to city we have grown
We couldn't have done it alone
All our hard work has finally paid off
Singapore is now finally on top
We have definitely done a lot
Now we are all widely sought
But we must continue to strive
In order for us to survive
The days onwards will be better
Though our problems not light as feather
We shall hold on together
And make Singapore prosper forever!

finally... 3 weeks of army and i am back again! confinement is very siong cos we have to be in Tekong all the time....
everywhere we go as a platoon we have to march and march.... my platoon has lotsa nice ppl majority from SP.... the Sergeants are okay so far... have to go to the dentist now... maybe gonna go watch movie with my buddies Daniel and Tai-ge later... *ciao*
