[About this blog] Inspired by local soccer player Mike Lim during my rookie reporter days at Singapore Polytechnic, I set up this blog in August 2002. I feel that blogging is a novel platform to document interesting facets of my life and my thoughts on certain issues. [Email blogger] ephraim@singnet.com.sg

[a life of hope exclusive]
Starring Chen Hanwei, Tay Ping Hui, Joanne Peh, Laura Fang, Julian Hee and Elvin Ng this story revolves Lin Xiuming (Laura Fang), a bubbly nurse who brings joy and laughter to the patients under her care at a NKF dialysis centre. It is commissioned by NKF so I hope you get the drift now.

Though her own life journey is full of pain and little hope she still manages to pull through defying the odds and goes on living (pun fully intended).

Her husband Pan Zhihao (played by Chen Hanwei) meets with a car accident one day and lies in hospital in a coma.

Seven years later when Zhihao awakes he finds that his wife has already gotten married to her good friend, Su Dongping (played by Tay Ping Hui). Dongping even takes his daughter Yuanyuan as his own.

A furious and crafty Zhihao then starts to plot his revenge which culminates into a final showdown where he attacks and even tries to push Dongping off a building.

Unlike other serious drama serials this one is pretty decent with a good plot that has subtle health messages woven in creatively thanks to the story writer.

With supporting up and coming actors like Joanne Peh, Julian Hee and Elvin Ng you'd expect to have lots of eye-candy opportunities throughout the show too.

Throw in an excellent crew and you have got a show filmed mostly in the heartlands - a tug at heartstings perhaps? Someone please call 1900 112 6868.

[cheer for magnum force]
for five years in a row... magnum force continues to rule with their agility in cheerleading....

yesterday at the national cheerleading competition cheerobics 2005 organised by ntu's cultural activities club, they emerged champions in the open catergory once again...

apart from funky dances and pitch perfect renditions for entertainment, the teams from various catergories - primary all the way to the open category - ignited the passion at suntec city's tropics atrium with their energising grooves...

[no live telecast]
pardon me if the news you get here is not so current...

i know that some of you may have caught a glimpse of me on the news last night... so here's the buzz for those who don't know the story yet...

was at the team singapore heritage tour as a group leader as part of voulunteer work and i got to travel around chinatown with a few athletes... some of them were china-born ones like these people here....

then after that we hopped onto the hippo bus to get to the g-max reverse bungee jump thingy at clark quay...

and it was a fun experience... but was kindof scary too... however no balls were shrunk in the process...

of course channel news asia was there too as they hired pr people to pitch the story to the media.... and though i tried very hard to avoid the cameras i still got caught in the web of deceit...

[the theme song]
finally... recording for the team singapore song is done...

it was recorded at soundmix studio along jln besar yesterday afternoon... and yes... it was fun seeing so many athletes all together getting into the "singapore theme" spirit.... they all wore red or white...

and now that technology is so advanced we could actually hear the near final product on the spot... thanks to the sound engineer too... he rocks... it is full of hype i tell you... you have to hear it to feel it...

two hours of singing with shooter lee wung yew, james wong, fencer and straits times journalist nicholas fang and other athletes like little 11-year-old badminton player elton... the song will apparently make its debut at ndp05 and would also be part of the sing singapore cd... no kidding...

it's over after a few sessions of singing lessons with babes conde... she is very powerful singer and teacher i tell you... even iskander ismail the writer of the song was there too.... mtv anyone?

[a tale of two maids]
interestingly... maids have a high standard of spoken english... when i was on the way home after going for the career fair at suntec i sort of eavesdropped on two maids talking on the bus... okay... there's no x-rated stuff here...

apparently they were only gossiping to each other on their worst gripes... that's all...

one said:"my ma'am always cook until the floor so oily... then never wash floor.."

another said:"my sir very good... he allow me to rest.. ma'ma want me to work till 11 then sleep... i wake up so early every day! lucky got sir around..."

"everyday i wake up so early... work till so late..."

seems like maids love their sirs.... haha...

come on... i think we ought to give them a break... i have... i am taking one... a long one indeed...

been up to a little team singapore work again... volunteering... yup... volunteering...

[msn early in the morning]
woke up early this morning...

and i'm now listening to the hillsong song "for all you've done" while writing this post...

"you lived you died you rose again on high..."

"and you opened the way for the world to live again..."

it has been a few months since i got hooked msn... and not many people know that i have msn yet... usually they will icq me instead... anyway msn is quite fun... cause you can play games with your friends when you are bored...

and so from a few close friends i now have a lot of people to talk to on msn... quite a fun way to chat considering i didn't like the idea of it at the start...

[the new village]
haven't really talked about church since i started going back this year... so here goes...

not to say that i never liked church but i wasn't really keen on worshipping God in the foyer of a school... that's why i went on hiatus when they moved...

now we are finally back at the new saint andrew's village... back to our roots you say... definitely... and woo hoo.... it's fun...

new building... fully air-conditioned and super lovely... not that i am pampered but it's the atmosphere... shiok...

and of course when you throw in the stained glass it looks pretty cool too...

so there you go.... it rocks...
