[About this blog] Inspired by local soccer player Mike Lim during my rookie reporter days at Singapore Polytechnic, I set up this blog in August 2002. I feel that blogging is a novel platform to document interesting facets of my life and my thoughts on certain issues. [Email blogger] ephraim@singnet.com.sg

[poor chris]
christopher christopher, where art thou fans?

week after week, he gets flak from the judges for his choice of song...

if christopher is improving, i guess the reason is that he has not been doing it fast enough hence it's his turn to get the boot... and only five are left: leandra, taufik, oli, daphne and sly....

a pity, i missed the results show....

point to note: today's predictions are quite spot on...

[one man's meat]
just completed reading jeffrey archer's, the collected short stories... but i guess the most interesting story of all is the last one... one man's meat...

jeffrey archer shows that he can get creative too while writing stories as he leaves the reader with a choice of four possible endings of that story...

so we have the four options: rare, burnt, overdone, a point... and all are hilarious accounts of picking up a slender girl in public and the consequences...

a good read i must say....

[vote now]
yes... it's that time of the year again... kidding.... haha....

no lah.. elections not here just yet... however, here's the cool deal....

i'm just newly listed on the best blogs in asia site... and if you like what you read here... please click here to vote... thanks a million!!!

also managed to catch the results show for idol today... and surprising, maia is like what wu zhenkang from the champion would say... o-u-t!!!

kindof unexpected but i must say all seven contestants last night were really up to standard... and boy, the outcome really depends on the voters....

[the end is here]
if you are thinking that it is the end of christopher michael lee, you are wrong... because i did not watch singapore idol today...

instead, i was at my graduation project presentation... and yup here's a brief preview...

Ephraim Loy, Adv Dip. (MC)

i passed... yeah!!!

anyway, no news about my graduation ceremony but here's a cool deal...

fullStoP editor asked me to help with the revamp of the paper... hopefully i can show my creativity and editorial skills... haha... and yes, i should be getting my namecard soon...

and i'll probably spend my november leave doing that... and it sure sounds fun...

i also sms-ed ex-editor chin kar just now to thank him.... haiz... the issue about me and my associate editor post so long ago liao... time to forget it.... i shall dump it in the dustbin...

and also kudos to sharon for her outgoing presentation style with her reader's digest and national geographic presentation.... you got me hooked... haha.... and to sharon: thanks so much for that complementary edition of national geographic september ish... you're so nice to me... keke....

okay, got to go get some shut-eye... should be running tomorrow morning... again....

[oh yes]
didn't really expect jerry to be ousted so soon... and yes i am talking about singapore idol...

though his singing was not really good... i thought he had a very strong fan base considering his entry to the finals... so that why i thought his fans would support him....

however, signs of his exit were showing bit by bit in the media reports... today and 8-days kindof played up his entry to the finals despite his lousy singing... so there you go... he is finally out....

o-u-t.... haha.... then weekend today reported that he was a humble and soft-spoken guy not wanting to steal the limelight away from the other contestants...

on to another paper... zaobao...

they got a revamp and it sure looks cool complete with a chance to win one of these when you subscribe...

[idol fever]
tonight's show was the second one that i really sat through... as the competition heats up, it is really difficult to predict who will be booted out...

with all eight finalists rooting for votes from the audience, it's anybody guess who'll get voted out...

however, just my two cents worth, oli was great, maia lived up to my expectations, leandra had the full package tonight and daphne was so-so but her song was nice...

for the guys, jerry as usual with the constipated voice, taufiq was awesome, sly was perfect and christopher was far from his best...

but really does the singing matter? going by the singing, christopher and jerry would not make it but they sure have the support from the audience...

sly and maia have the bad boy/girl image that scores...

taufik and oli have the smooth voice even if their looks are so-so...

whereas daphne and leandra need to connect with the audience though their package is there...

and so my prediction is that either daphne or christopher will be out...

only time will tell...

[gone with the wind]
missed one of the greatest events in sp's history... but what the heck... sp's 50 anniversary was okay according to a reliable source except for students' lack-lustre performances... they looked like they were giving the audiences a run for their money by replaying their programme for the president's visit...

anyway, one point to take note... when mps speak, they bring their own rostrum to the event... see below for an example...

i think different rank have different colours... pm's one is silver... that time i saw a bronze one when minister for information, communicatons and the arts, dr lee boon yang was around.... haha... observant huh...

nontheless, here's wishing sp all the best on her 50th anniversary...

now... 1, 2, 3... blow!!!

[showtime]
spent the afternoon selling stuff to raise funds for my church.... and i was stationed at the auditorium of the lovely nanyang polytechnic... cool man...

and the whole purpose was to catch the crowd at the ascension kindergarten annual concert titled wrong channel... and yes, it's all about tv that's why phua chu kang was there too...

other than that, there were dances, a funny holland v spoof, tacky advertisements and even songs from disney cartoons....

and ascension actually has a lot of kids compared to some ten years ago when i was there... wow!!

[sports bash]
finally the meetings and recee and days of hard work and preparation has paid off.... the 39sce battalion spots meet 2004 was an astounding success for all present....

one of the very new features about my hosting stints is the 'live' broadcast thingy... super cool i must tell you... this feature allowed my fellow host, robin, to get really close to the action at the courts and enabled him to feed 'live' audio streamed back to me at the dj console.... ingenious i'd say...

and finally, there were no major hiccups yesterday unlike during the oc evening... one more big show to go before i ord... that will be the unit anniversary in november where i will also reveal a new talent who is three times better than me at hosting... watch out guys!!!

no photos of the event, however, here's a small little treat of the event....

[mediacorp weekend]
it only takes mediacorp star fann wong two bottles of face paint and a brush to turn on her cheeky mood it seems...

a total of close to 500 fannatics were at the mediacorp starlet's outdoor promotion for vcds of her drama serial at junction 8 today...

and boy were they wild....

then later in the afternoon at wheelock place, her radio counterparts daniel ong and carrie drove the orchard crowd crazy as they obliged with photos and autographs after the perfect 10 lanyard giveaway....

carrie chong and me...

daniel ong and me...

kindof sad cause i didn't get the cool lanyard... but it's okay.... can try again... but this time i would queue early and not go to borders to read mags liao... haiz....
